6th Grade Field Trip to Seattle Children’s Theater!
March 5, 2024
Dear Families,
School life continues to be full and rich at St. Anne School. We have completed two thirds of the school year and our second trimester ends this Thursday. We look forward to sending out report cards on March 19. And STAR testing will be going on in classrooms over the next two weeks. Make sure students get good sleep and good nutrition to set them up for success.
The Middle School Spirit Committee led our Prayer Assembly on Monday with a prayer for our oceans and environment and a presentation on the nonprofit organization 4Oceans. 4Oceans cleans marine debris from our beautiful oceans and for each $1 received, they will pick up one pound of plastics and trash from the ocean. The Spirit Committee was happy to report that the $514 raised from the Candy-Gram sales last month will be donated to 4Oceans. From our donation alone they will be able to pick up 514 pounds of trash! Thank you to all the community who participated in Candy-Grams and helped support this work.
There is a large funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10am for Fr. Tony Haycock. Fr. Haycock served as a priest at St. Anne’s in the late seventies and later at parishes throughout the archdiocese. He was a champion of social justice. Please note that there is no hot lunch on Wednesday and students will be having indoor recess because both the gym and parking lot will be in use. Morning Lent service will be in the classroom.
This week we are welcoming a new part time teacher, Mrs. Christina Posten, to our school. She will be taking over my role as 7th grade science teacher. She comes to us with a strong background in science education, curriculum planning and educational leadership from the Seattle Public Schools. Welcome Mrs. Posten!
EF Parent Bootcamp: We had a highly successful presentation last week on Emotional Control and Response Inhibition by Beth Peterson. Take time to review the information in her slide presentation. A further information sheet and set of handouts will be sent out in next week’s post. Get next month’s EF Bootcamp on your calendar: March 20 on the topic “Understanding Working Memory”.
Auction Pictures on Thursday! Students must be in school uniform on Thursday for these important pictures. Thank you to Elyssa Schuessler (photographer) and Damian Hession (manager of students) for their work on this project.
No School Friday: The school staff will be gathering for a retreat on prayer and do some curriculum planning. Have a restful extra long weekend.
State of the School: Don’t forget that the STATE of SCHOOL is now scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 at 6:00pm in Banchero Hall.
