Safe Environment Requirements for Volunteers
Volunteers who have contact with minors and vulnerable adults in their volunteer capacity are required to set up an account at www.virtusonline.org to create a profile. This will allow you to complete the required background check, sign off on the Safe Environment Personnel Policies & register for the initial training session called Protecting God’s Children for Adults. Background checks and refresher online training classes are done every three years.
Safe Environment Requirements for Minor Volunteers
Minors are defined as any child under the age of 18. Any minor volunteering to work at school, must sign (along with their parent/guardian) a Code of Conduct form verifying understanding of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment policy in regards to minors who work with younger children. Parents/guardians of minors age 16-18 must sign giving approval for the minor to apply for a background check. Both forms are returned to the school prior to volunteering for processing. The minor may not volunteer until forms are received and the background check has cleared. Minors will be supervised by someone aged 21 or older.
