You Can’t Stop the Mighty St. Anne Chess Club
The St. Anne Chess Club has taught beginning through advanced chess to our K-8 St. Anne students for 10+ years. Josh Sinanan, President of the Washington Chess Federation and National Chess Master, teaches all levels of chess to St. Anne club students.
Beginning November 2, 2022, beginners and intermediate/advanced student players will meet in-person on Wednesdays through the end of March 2023. Students in both classes will practice chess puzzles, be given a chess lesson and play chess games with peers.
We are considering hosting two state qualifier scholastic (K-8) chess tournaments. St. Anne hosted chess tournaments attract 100+ scholastic chess players from all over the Puget Sound. There are lots of prizes up for grabs! The proceeds from these tournaments has enabled St. Anne’s Chess Club to replace and upgrade all of our equipment, purchase ChessKid memberships for students when the club was meeting virtually and bring in Josh Sinanan to coach our club classes. Some kids love the tournaments and others just prefer to play casual chess. All participation levels are encouraged!
