You Can’t Stop the Mighty St. Anne Chess Club
Our Chess Club is heading into its eighth year and it is stronger than ever! Starting on November 5, beginners meet from 5:30-6:15pm every Monday in the Science Lab until the end of March. Chess Master Josh Sinanan teaches intermediate and advanced players from 6:15-7:30 pm. Please contact Regan Hurley at reganh@gmail.com if you are interested in participating.
Parents are more than welcome to attend as they can help reinforce the lessons and join in the fun of playing at Chess Club and at home.
We hold two state qualifier scholastic (K-8) chess tournaments, the first is December 9 at noon (registration information will be sent out to participants) and the second is in late March/April. (Dates are yet to be finalized.) These tournaments attract around 160 players from all over the Puget Sound and there are lots of trophies up for grabs! The proceeds from these tournaments has enabled St. Anne’s to replace and upgrade all of our equipment and bring in Josh Sinanan, an actual chess master. Some kids love the tournaments and others just prefer to play casual chess. All participation levels are encouraged!
