I currently serve as the school principal. I began teaching at St. Anne School in 1998 and taught a variety of subjects throughout the years including art, hands on science, middle school math and science and worked as the 7th grade homeroom teacher. I then served 11 years as the school vice-principal.

Passions/Interests

I love working in a learning community and have a deep appreciation of St. Anne School. I have an ongoing interest in science, math, and art and like to see and find the interconnections between them. I am continually interested in how children learn. The work students do in this building is important and meaningful. My faith life is enriched by this work. My husband and I have four sons and we enjoy our family time with them. When I have extra time I like cooking, pottery and exploring the natural world.

"Working with children of various ages has always been one of my biggest passions- early childhood has definitely found a special place in my heart. I was born in Connecticut and have lived up and down the east coast until I moved to Seattle in 2019; I love that I now call it home. I was born and raised in Seattle, going to Catholic schools from Kindergarten through college. I am a graduate of Bishop Blanchet, as well as, Seattle University. I love working at St. Anne; it is an amazing community! I truly love Kindergarten! I think it is the perfect age to teach. They are just gaining some independence and they are so ready to learn! The growth we see from the start of the year to the end is amazing! My husband and I have 2 children who brighten our world everyday! I am an avid reader. I love going to the beach, working in my garden, and playing tennis.

As an alum of St. Anne, I am thrilled to be able to come back and pursue something I love. St. Anne has always been a second home for me and I hope to pass that on to my students. When I’m not teaching, I love performing in musicals, dancing, and hanging out with friends.

I love helping people. When I play sports my main goal is to help the team in any way I can. When I teach it is to help students become successful, independent thinkers by providing a space where they have the freedom and safety to explore new ideas and dig into big questions so they can participate in the transformation of their world. I also love hanging out with the fam, having a good laugh, writing fiction, reading, playing piano and guitar, singing in the car and keeping up with the news of the world.

I love being part of the supportive and joyful St. Anne community. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my wife Kristy, a teacher at St. Joe's, and young daughter, Ada Mae. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, watching sports, and playing soccer.

Experience

My career shows a steady progression to teaching younger and younger students; this has been beneficial to my students because I understand what will be required of them at the next stages of their education. While teaching Freshman Composition at the UW, I realized that teaching was my love, so I switched from the graduate English program to the Education Program. For 11 years I taught English at Eastside Catholic High School and co-created the Seattle University Matteo Ricci class there. For my last two years I was also the Academic Dean at Eastside, but what I really wanted to do was teach art. I took a year off and volunteered in art classrooms in several schools (I already had my art teaching credential), When I returned to teaching, I did so at the Jewish Day School for nine years--teaching 8th grade Humanities and then Pre-K thru MS art. I've taught art at St. Anne since 2008--originally part time here and part time at JDS and then part time at St. Madeleine Sophie. In 2013 I moved to St. Anne full time by becoming the Librarian as well as the Art Teacher.

Passions/Interests

I love making art! On my own I love to draw and paint en plein aire (outside) or to be awake in the middle of the night sewing hats or watercoloring at the dining room table. I fashion sculptures out of objects I find on walks around the neighborhood, at the beach, or in the woods. I look and look and look--enjoying textures, colors, shapes, light, and wondering at the amazing composition of God's art and in the work of my fellows humans. I read deeply and broadly. These days poetry and non-fiction stimulate my mind and heart most, but I also delight in finding new books (or reading classics I somehow missed) for children and young adults. I must go to the ocean every so often to let the sounds, smells, and sights of that enormous water get me back into a proper relation with the world. Oh, and children. I am unendingly passionate about the intellectual, artistic, and spiritual growth of children.

I love to empower and teach the younger generations in order for them to develop their God given potential. It is truly a blessing for me to teach Spanish at our school, and have the opportunity to incorporate our faith in every aspect of our learning. During my days off I enjoy spending time with my wife Eunice and playing sports with my two sons, Nathan and Noah.

I began working at St. Anne in 2002 as the fourth grade teacher. After one year in fourth grade, I moved to Kindergarten and taught there for four years. Passions/Interests

I attended Catholic school my entire life and always knew I wanted to work in a Catholic school. My goal as an educator is to foster a love for learning in every student. I have a particular interest in the field of reading. My hope is for all children to experience the joys of reading and I strive to make learning to read a positive experience. I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, cooking, reading, and doing most anything related to the outdoors.

Passions/Interests

I have always loved learning and going to school, and being a teacher gives me the opportunity to do that every day. Besides teaching and learning, I love to exercise, especially outdoors. Running, hiking, and skiing are my favorite outdoor activities. I I also enjoy relaxing at home with a good book! My family lives back in St. Louis, where I grew up, so I like to go visit them during breaks or, even better, have them come visit me.

This is my first year teaching! I completed a full-time, year long internship at St. Joe's last year. In my professional career, I worked in IT Project Management.

Passions/Interests

I have always wanted to teach middle school math and science. My own middle school teachers had a huge impact on me, so I've been dreaming of this opportunity for most of my life. I was born and raised in Seattle. I went to Our Lady of Fatima (where my children now attend) and Seattle Prep. After college I moved to DC and worked as a consultant for the Intelligence Community. I moved back to Seattle in 2009, got married, had six kids (aged 2-10) and spent a couple years as a stay at home mom. Last year I finally decided to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. I enrolled at SPU and spent a year at St. Joe's as a 7th and 8th grade math teacher. I am thrilled to be at St. Anne's and look forward to many years serving the student community here!

My wife and I enjoy travel, sunshine and golf. I am a graduate of St. Anne's (last class in the old church) and am active in the parish having served on Pastoral Council, 5-year Planning Committee, Liturgy Committee, as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. Coming full circle to work at St. Anne School is a dream come true.

My experience is mostly centered in middle and high school grade levels. In my 4 years of college, I was in the local public schools observing, volunteering, and aiding as much as possible; gaining over 100 hours of experience in the schools. I knew I wanted to be back in the Catholic school setting so I received my student teaching in Scottsdale, AZ in 6th grade. God placed me here at St.Anne in 4th grade for the past two years, and feel at home now in Middle School History.

Passions/Interests

I didn't give teaching a second thought until I reached college. At university, God placed a deep calling on my heart to lead, and radiate love through relationship and teaching. I am proud to have pursued this career and end up at a community like St.Annes. My passions include reading, hiking, golfing, and listening to lots of music!

I have worked at St. Anne for 20+ years, and feel so lucky to be in this community! At St. Anne, I also develop the Student Learning Plans for middle school students with diverse learning needs.
