I started teaching in the Seattle Public Schools in 1987. I've taught grades Pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. After taking time out of the classroom to stay home with my two children, I joined the St. Anne team first as a substitute, then as Pre K teacher in 2015.Passions/Interests
Professionally, my passion is working with emergent learners. I feel so honored and blessed to be a part of the foundational learning for our littlest children. As a graduate of St. Anne and Blanchet, I also cherish introducing our students to the love and support that comes with being a part of the St. Anne family. When I am not teaching, I love being with my family, including our collection of pets, reading, gardening, and spending as much time exploring the Pacific Northwest as possible.

After staying home with my children I decided to return to work at St. John’s in their Pre-school. In 2006 I moved to the St. Anne’s Kindergarten and never looked back. I have found my home in this school on the hill!Passions/Interests
I found my passion for education at an early age. My mom taught in Catholic schools her entire career. I attended Catholic schools from Kindergarten through college. I have 2 grown children who also attended Catholic school as well. I believe in the strong foundation of faith and academics that a Catholic education provides. I love fostering a curiosity in early learners. Teaching them to look at the world with wonder and awareness. I strongly believe in a growth mindset and the power of yet So you may not be good at something “yet“, but with hard work and determination you can achieve your goals! I work hard to create a room full of problem solvers. When they learn to solve things on their own it builds confidence and resilience. My goal is to develop life-long learners who will go out and make a difference in our world. I feel so blessed to be a part of the St. Anne community! It is such a supportive and caring community. When I am not in the classroom I enjoy reading, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with my family.

I have a big family and enjoy spending time with them often. I love traveling, swimming, hiking and playing soccer, softball and basketball in my free time.

My passion for teaching was instilled in me at an early age. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and she paved the way for showing me that a job working with children is, in fact, the most rewarding work of all. I love working with students of various cultures and backgrounds. I am thrilled to be working at St. Anne, a school where children’s Catholic backgrounds and love of learning is evident everyday. I am a proud Montanan, and I enjoy skiing, running, fly fishing, reading, and cheering for Gonzaga basketball.

BA in English (with college honors, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) at the University of Washington; teaching credentials also through the UW with endorsements 4-12 English, 4-12 Language Arts, and K-12 Art.Experience
My career shows a steady progression to teaching younger and younger students; this has been beneficial to my students because I understand what will be required of them at the next stages of their education. While teaching Freshman Composition at the UW, I realized that teaching was my love, so I switched from the graduate English program to the Education Program. For 11 years I taught English at Eastside Catholic High School and co-created the Seattle University Matteo Ricci class there. For my last two years I was also the Academic Dean at Eastside, but what I really wanted to do was teach art. I took a year off and volunteered in art classrooms in several schools (I already had my art teaching credential), When I returned to teaching, I did so at the Jewish Day School for nine years--teaching 8th grade Humanities and then Pre-K thru MS art. I've taught art at St. Anne since 2008--originally part time here and part time at JDS and then part time at St. Madeleine Sophie. In 2013 I moved to St. Anne full time by becoming the Librarian as well as the Art Teacher.Passions/Interests
I love making art! On my own I love to draw and paint en plein aire (outside) or to be awake in the middle of the night sewing hats or watercoloring at the dining room table. I fashion sculptures out of objects I find on walks around the neighborhood, at the beach, or in the woods. I look and look and look--enjoying textures, colors, shapes, light, and wondering at the amazing composition of God's art and in the work of my fellows humans. I read deeply and broadly. These days poetry and non-fiction stimulate my mind and heart most, but I also delight in finding new books (or reading classics I somehow missed) for children and young adults. I must go to the ocean every so often to let the sounds, smells, and sights of that enormous water get me back into a proper relation with the world. Oh, and children. I am unendingly passionate about the intellectual, artistic, and spiritual growth of children.
