Dear Families:
Things are gearing up for a fantastic evening at “A Night in Havana at the St. Anna Cabana”! Though things will look different this year, our amazing auction chairs are working tirelessly to make it a fun and profitable event. As the items have been dropped off in the office, we have marveled at the creativity and quality of the items. The silent portion of the auction will be phenomenal, as well as the in-person gala with wonderful live items. From Staycations to Vacations and dinners to sporting events, there is something for everyone.
For those who can’t attend in-person, the auction will be live-streamed and there are many ways for you to bid. We have proxy bidders who will hold up your assigned bid card to try and secure an item in the amount you specify, without you having to be here. The silent auction and Fund It will also be online for purchases and donations.
In this very strange and unprecedented year, let’s make this the best auction ever. Our students deserve no less!
Special thanks to Becky Pelletier and Kathleen Gallagher, along with Development Director Monica Flora for all of their efforts and their commitment to following all Covid regulations. We can never express our depth of appreciation for all they have done (and continue to do) for our school.
Just a reminder that the Task Force to Combat Racism is holding its third session tomorrow evening (Wednesday, April 28th at 7:00pm via zoom) on the “Open Wide Our Hearts” Pastoral letter. This session focuses on, “Love Goodness”. If you have not had a chance to attend, please register here and join the timely and thought-provoking discussion.
I want to update you on some staff changes for the 2021-22 school year. After 21 years of leading our Music program Mrs. Kathleen Mills has decided to retire from St. Anne and spend her days at her place on Orcas Island. We will surely miss her and the musical culture she has created here over the years!
Mrs. Maureen Mastrobattista is cutting back from her position as Lead Teacher in PreK to the part time, three day a week, position in PreK. We’re glad she will still be with us!
Ms. Riley Peterson is leaving us to pursue a Master’s in Teaching (full-time) at Seattle U. She hopes to be a high school art teacher someday.
We have some familiar faces joining us as full-time teachers. Ms. Anna Vizzare, who is currently student teaching in 5th grade will be the new Music/Drama teacher and we are so excited that she is staying on staff with us! With a degree in music/drama, and loads of experience, she will add much to our program.
Ms. Heather McDougall, one of our grade 4 cohort teachers, will be the new Lead Teacher in PreK. We are thrilled that she can remain with us as she has lots of experience with PreK age students (and students at lots of levels).
The 2021-22 school year will be here before we know it!
Have a great week.
Mary
