This coming Friday, March 8th we celebrate Unity Day. It is a time to celebrate kindness, acceptance and inclusion of others. The 8th graders are leading the event in coordination with School Counselor, Mrs. Rousso, and will be going into each classroom to teach lessons about friendship, diversity, acceptance and anti-bullying. They will also lead each class in a special craft activity which will be displayed around the school.
Because orange is the color of unity, we are asking everyone to wear orange in support of the event. To earn free dress that day, students must wear something orange – an orange tee-shirt, sweater, socks, scarf, hair bands, etc. Feel free to be creative but it must be orange (no orange hair please!). There will be a special orange lunch (must have been ordered by last week) and a bake sale at each of the lunches to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Thank you in advance for your support of this event.
Thank you for getting re-enrollment packets in after the extended deadline due to the inclement weather. Also, a reminder that in order to receive the in-parish tuition rate (a savings of $2,190 over out-of-parish), you MUST have a Parish Stewardship Giving card on file for 2019 and an established pattern of giving. The Stewardship Pledge cards were made available last November for giving beginning in January, 2019.
These pledges/donations are the only way the parish can create a budget each year. These “Sunday” donations are the sole source of income to the parish. We will be reviewing in-parish status and increasing tuition for next year to the out-of-parish rate if a Stewardship Giving card is not on file and no pattern of giving is established. Thank you for your attention to this most important matter.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It is a point in our liturgical year when we take 6 weeks to focus on the life of Jesus as he walks the path toward his Passion and Resurrection. By concentrating on prayer, fasting and almsgiving, we hope to understand more fully the great mystery who is God. Please join us tomorrow morning as we start our Lenten journey at Ash Wednesday Mass at 8:45am in the church.
Next Monday, March 11th, at 1:15pm, the 7th grade class, who has had the music and drama elective this trimester, will be presenting a modified version of “Alice in Wonderland”. With theatre in the round, (on the gym floor) very simple props and silly costumes, this 40 minute performance is the culmination of their work during the second trimester. Everyone is welcome to join the school as we watch their creative performance.
Have a great week!
