Principal Post April 16th
As we enter Holy Week we will continue our Lenten decade of the rosary each morning, the collection of Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowls and celebration of the symbolic Seder Meal on Holy Thursday and Simple Meal on Good Friday. The Seder meal is a symbolic meal and students will eat their regular lunches on Thursday in the classrooms before joining the symbolic Seder. Our Simple Meal on Good Friday consists of ramen soup, crackers and water. There is no need for students to bring a lunch on Friday. The Simple Meal will be provided for them. Quiet music will play as students spend their lunch time silently reflecting on those who have limited access to food and water. Our culminating activity will be the Living Stations of the Cross in the church at 2:15pm on Good Friday. Please join us.
Our Easter break begins after dismissal on Good Friday. It is always an exciting time but we also need to remember the reverence of the day and the Passion of Christ. At dismissal, we are once again planning a silent dismissal and ask for your cooperation and help in keeping the calm, quiet, prayerful nature of our afternoon.
Our parish offers a number of wonderful liturgies and rituals in observance of the Triduum. I hope you are able to take this last chance before Easter to observe Lent with our community. Different than ordinary Masses, the liturgies of Holy Week can help us see our faith in new ways. Scheduled for this week are:

Good Friday
April 19
2:15pm: Living Stations of the Cross presented by our 5th and 8th graders
7:00 pm: Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Veneration of the Cross

Finally, thank you for responding to our request last week to reach out to state lawmakers to endorse the passage of the Emergency School Notification bill (SB5514). We are pleased to announce that the bill to improve school emergency notifications was unanimously passed by the Washington House of Representatives and is now headed to the Governor’s desk. Passing this bill has been a multi-year effort by the Washington Federation of Independent Schools and the Washington State Catholic Conference. We are very appreciative of your outreach to lawmakers to better protect all students!
