Dear Families,

At our Prayer Assembly yesterday, Ms. Kassebaum led us in a powerful reflection on Sunday’s Gospel. She shared the message from Jesus  “Let the person who has never made a mistake throw the first stone.” Jesus showed us the kind of love we are asked to show to others. He showed us what God’s grace looks like.  She ended with this beautiful prayer: 

Dear God,  Thank you for loving us, even when we mess up.
Help us to be kind like Jesus.
Help us forgive, just like Jesus forgives us.
Give us hearts that are full of grace, and help us to choose kindness over judgment. Amen.

A quick shout out to our middle school sports score announcers who keep us informed about sports teams wins and losses around the country and keep us up to date on CYO sports teams from St. Anne School!

SLE Lunch Winners: We had our drawing on Monday for this month’s SLE award winners. They will enjoy a pizza lunch with the principal!  The work they did to get their names in the drawing included helping a friend organize their desk, asking thoughtful questions and making connections, helping organize the hot lunch baskets that students had thrown in the bin, and always thinking about the “next right thing”!  Congratulations goes to:

Thank you to Lower School Drama for their fantastic production of “A Kids Life” last Thursday! What a joyful community event. The staging and singing were superb! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who use their talents to support our drama program.  And a huge thank you to directors, Kendra Kassebaum and Katie Dreessen for cultivating the vocal and acting talent of all the student actors. We are grateful.

Last Friday, Middle School students participated in a Lenten Retreat. This time was filled with reflection and prayer. The teachers found it beautiful to witness the students lean into their faith, ask questions, and build community with one another. The students rotated in their St. Anne family groups through 4 stations. They reflected on the Stations of the Cross, art journaled, made a craft, and spent time in scripture. 

Our School Commission has recently finished updating the bylaws and nomination process for new members. School Commission Chair, Ashley Rossman, sent out the nomination form yesterday and we are looking to add two to three members for the next school year.  You can nominate yourself or someone else. Multiple nominations do not have any impact on outcome. The time commitment is roughly three hours per month with two hours in a meeting and one hour of outside work.  We have an accreditation visit next year that will require some extra time in meetings with the accrediting team.  As always, we will look to provide diverse community representation on the School Commission. Thanks for supporting this work.

We are beginning our planning process for next year.  Sean and I are working together to interview strong candidates that we think would enhance our school programs. As we finalize these decisions, we will be notifying the school community.
