Dear Families,

We continue in our journey through Lent with a practice of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. At our prayer assembly on Monday, Ms. Raney spoke about how, just as water helps our bodies stay healthy, Jesus helps our hearts stay healthy through his message of love and reconciliation. John 4: “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” As we go about our daily work this week, we are invited to have hearts filled with compassion and forgiveness. Ms. Raney closed with this prayer: “Jesus, You are the Living Water. Fill us up with Your love. Heal our hearts and our friendships. Help us come closer to You during Lent and every day. Amen.”

I wanted to take a moment and ask you to take notice of the impact of electronic devices and social media on your student.  Though these tools can provide many benefits, I witness and hear about how both devices and social media can place a burden on our students, their learning and their well being.  Although our students store and do not use their devices during the school day, they can still have a negative impact on student well being due to after school usage.  Again, the burden to manage devices and social media well can be very heavy for a student. Please continue to educate yourselves, be in discussion with one another and remain attentive to what is best for your student. Our teachers do engage in conversations with students about good digital hygiene and our school counselor provides some age appropriate classroom lessons, however, you are your students best and foremost teacher.

Science Fair Success!  Thank you to all our students for putting on a fabulous night of science learning and community for all of us!  Over the last couple of months students have worked hard both inside and outside their classrooms to investigate, study and learn about a wide range of science and engineering topics. Last Thursday evening, students shared their expertise with families and friends. There was so much learning for our whole community! A special thanks to our middle school science teacher, Mrs. Posten, for organizing and to classroom teachers for cultivating scientists in their classrooms!

Chess Club Success!  Congratulations to our Chess Club for completing another successful year. This K-8, parent run club, has met on Wednesdays throughout the school year to play chess and explore the fun and complexity of the game with guidance and support from their wonderful coach, Josh Sinanan. This year the club hosted two chess tournaments, and with the money earned, made two generous donations. One to Martha’s Workers who weekly prepare and deliver sandwiches to local shelters and who have served our community with incredible generosity for over 40 years. And the second to the Fulcrum Foundation who provide scholarships and strive to make an excellent Catholic education accessible to all. Thank you to parents, Carlee Thorrington and Arlene Kelly for organizing and leading the Chess Club work throughout the year!

It’s a Kid’s Life! This Thursday at 2:15 and 7pm, Lower School Drama will be putting on their performance of “It’s a Kid’s Life”. Please join us for some wonderful theater! Thank you to directors, Ms. Kendra Kassebaum and Ms. Katie Dreessen. And thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make this a success.

  • Join us for our Parish Family Lent Mission:  Experience a Lent mission, a unique and enriching journey of spiritual renewal and reflection during the sacred season of Lent. These missions offer a wonderful opportunity for individuals and communities to come together, deepen their faith and prepare their hearts for the joyous celebration of Easter. Embrace this time of growth and transformation with us, guided by Fr Marcin Szymanski.  At Our Lady of Fatima on the 31st of March, 1st, 2nd, 3rd of April  Learn more about Fr.
