Spirit Game Winners!
May 21, 2024
Dear Families,
Our third grade students led us in a reflection on Pentecost with a reading, reflections and with some of the students wearing red–the color of vestments for Pentecost. The red color is a symbol of the fire of the Holy Spirit descending down on the Apostles. As the students shared, “…all throughout our lives, we can pray to the Holy Spirit to help guide us to the Truth and help us to love God with all our hearts, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.” Blessings to all as we end our Easter season. And thank you to the Spirit Elective for having a spirit game that K-8 participated in. Lots of fun! And congratulations to our winners: TK (7th), Gavin (4th) and Cyrus (1st)
Thank you to our 2nd graders for the beautiful May Crowning Mass last Friday. They served in faith with strong speaking and singing voices! In addition, at the end of Mass, we presented the 7th Grade Leadership Awards. These awards recognize students who exemplify leadership in each of our four Student Learning Expectations (SLEs). At their SLE retreat a couple weeks ago, seventh grade students reflected on fellow students who served as role models for them in each of the SLEs. Congratulations to our award winners and all our 7th graders. The school is looking forward to their leadership next year. This year’s award winners are:
- Active Person of Faith: Raphael Alvarez and Scarlett Janzen
- Lifelong Learner: Kate Howard
- Globally Aware: Isabella Russo and Nico Hedger Restrepo
- Well-Balanced: Sasha Worner
Teacher Appreciation: There is so much goodness in our parent community! Last week you showered the whole staff with special drinks, treats and flowers and it felt great. And it was capped with a delicious Appreciation Lunch over at the church as the school hummed along with the power of parent volunteers. Thank you Parent Association! All the staff are grateful!
Note from Mrs. Sauvage on Killer Whale Tales School Families Project: “Wow! Way to go St. Anne! We began our Killer Whale Tales challenge and donations for Earth Day back in April. Since that date, we have made our homes more Orca friendly by using less water and electricity, reducing our use of single use plastics, using reusable lunch boxes and water bottles, composting, the list goes on and on. We also brought in A LOT of money!!! We have collected $1,905.91. Our goal was for each of the 20 school families to raise $50, which put our goal at $1,000 total. We almost doubled that! The school matched our original goal and added $1,000 to our total. Mrs. Thole, Mrs. Sauvage and Ms. McDougall attended the Killer Whale Tale fundraiser on Saturday. The donation was enthusiastically received for this important program. Thank you so much for making your home Ocra friendly and for your generous donations to the KWT program.”
