Upper School Drama–The Addams Family
May 14, 2024
Dear Families,
It is Teacher Appreciation Week! And we have a school full of the best! They care deeply for the students, create a rich learning environment and put in countless hours to ensure that everyone is growing and learning. We have a heart full of gratitude for every one of them. Already this week, the staff has received lovely coffee drinks and flowers and on Thursday the Parent Association will host the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Thanks to all who are helping with that event.
At our Prayer Assembly yesterday, the 4th Grade students shared their reflections on the Beatitudes. Blessed are the poor, the mourning, the meek, those who hunger for righteousness, those who are merciful, those clean of heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted. They took time to tell short stories about finding these traits in some of our school’s students and staff and spoke about how through their actions they make this a better place.
Service Learning in our School: Last Thursday our 7th grade students spent the day at the St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Bank in South Seattle as part of the Missionary Discipleship Institute through the Office of Catholic Schools. This program was designed in collaboration with Maryknoll to provide 7th graders with a year-long class exploration of what it means to be a Catholic in and for the world, integrating faith, global awareness, and authentic living of Catholic Social Teaching. On this field trip, students helped their neighbors do grocery shopping for the day. It was a transformative experience for everyone.
MAP Testing: We are in the process of having all students in second through eighth grade take the end of year MAP test in Reading, Language and Math. As you may recall, students take the test in the fall also. Data from this testing helps us track student progress longitudinally and helps us make plans to meet student’s individual learning needs. The best preparation for students is to be well rested and well fed.
Upper School Drama: Thank you to all our Upper School Drama students who performed in the Addams Family this past weekend! Thank you for sharing your talents and entertaining our community. A huge thank you to Sam Stack, Becky Pelletier and other parent volunteers for ensuring the success of this program.
Church News! We are now at 40% of the financial goal and are at 19% participation! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the support of the Annual Catholic Appeal. There are copies of the booklet in the school office and you are invited to pick one up. The booklet outlines how the ACA impacts St. Anne’s community as well as a testimonial from myself and Colin Gallagher the CYO Director.
