Dear Families:
Thank you again for your patience and support as we navigate these trying times. We are doing everything we can from this end to keep up with the constantly changing news. I just learned moments ago that Governor that he is shutting down all King, Pierce and Snohomish County schools through April 24th! It is breaking my heart. The teachers and students will be devastated!
We will solider on… We plan to start our remote learning plan as of Monday, March 16th. Thankfully, we’ve had a plan in place to do distance learning for over a year. Some teachers took advantage of it during our snowstorms of last winter. Since our faculty meeting yesterday, they have been creating lesson plans and demonstrating to students how to access online instruction. Some of our lower grades are choosing to send home packets of work as it is easier on the littler ones than working online.
You will be hearing from individual teachers on their plans for instruction. We want to keep up with learning standards for each grade level through this “school from home” time. We are asking for your help in the following areas:
1) Attendance will be taken every day via a Google form that will be e-mailed to you daily by your classroom teacher. Parents need to log-on before 10:00am to submit attendance.
2) Teachers will be putting lessons and/or instructions for the day out by 10:00am each day. Please monitor the time that your child is working and regulate so they are not putting in an excessive amount. Please stop them if they are working too long on an assignment.
3) Teachers will be available during regular school hours via their e-mail addresses. The office will remain closed but parents can call or e-mail at any time. There are many times that at least one of us will be in the office, and we will be checking phone and e-mail messages throughout the day.
4) We understand that there are some families who do not have access to a computer or laptop. If there is a dire need, we have a small number of older laptops that can be checked out to a family. Please e-mail our Tech. Specialist, Selina Innes if you need one: sinnes@stannesea.org
We will continue to update you on a regular basis. The Sunday News and Tuesday Post will go out according to the regular schedule.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Mary
