CYO Sports

By participating in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) league, St. Anne School provides an opportunity for youth to participate in team sports in a well-organized and properly supervised program designed to develop skills, self-discipline, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship. CYO Sports embraces a values-driven approach to athletics that seeks to enhance the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth of young people.  The league consists of teams from Catholic schools throughout the Seattle Archdiocese, as well as teams from private schools with no other league affiliation. Service Projects

There are multiple ways St. Anne actively participates and engages with service inside and outside of the school.

Large projects like Blessing Bags during the Christmas season is a school-wide collection of needed items, and then everyone packages the donated items into gift bags for local shelters. We also actively participate in the St. Anne parish ministry, Martha’s workers, where a few rotating middle schoolers will help make sandwiches for a local shelter every Monday morning.

Other service projects include can and food drives, CRS Rice bowls, homebound parishioner letters, and more!

Community Building

One aspect about St. Anne that is very special to us is our commitment to cultivating a strong community. Building relationships and friendships through our Buddy Program pairs younger students with older students, which fosters a bond and memories that last a lifetime. The Family program is a group of about 10-12 students from each grade level, led by an 8th grader, that meet together for various activities throughout the year such as craft-making activities, Field Day, etc.

Drama

St. Anne offers two after school drama programs. Lower School drama is available to 1st-4th grade students throughout the year where they learn the basics of acting and theater, and perform a short performance for the St. Anne Community. Upper school drama is an advanced program to enrich student’s acting, dancing, and singing skills, and is open to 5th-8th grade students. Both programs are led by our Music and Drama teacher, Kendra Kassebaum, who brings vibrant expertise to allow the students to grow in their theater skills.

Chess Club

The St. Anne Chess Club has taught beginning through advanced chess to our K-8 St. Anne students for 10+ years. Josh Sinanan, President of the Washington Chess Federation and National Chess Master, teaches all levels of chess to St. Anne club students. All participation levels are encouraged!Questions about the St. Anne Chess Club? Contact Carlee Thorington

Speech Team

As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said: “Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.”The award-winning St. Anne Speech Team is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who want to improve their public speaking skills through participation in at least two middle school speech tournaments during December through February. It is a positive, team-based experience that they will take with them their whole lives!

Student-Led Clubs

At St. Anne, we encourage students to be creative and passionate about their interests! There are always opportunities to start a club by talking with the principal and advocating for grade-level involvement. We currently have a Music Club, Math Club, and Dungeons and Dragons club.
