2024-25 School Theme: “Guide me in your truth and teach me.” –Psalm 25
Dear Families,
On Monday we had the day off to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. At today’s Prayer Assembly, Mr. Haffey shared with us some things about what Dr. King said and did in his life. He shared three quotes from Dr. King that will serve to inspire and guide us this week.
- “Fierce urgency of now”: We do not have to wait to do a good thing or wait for someone else to do the good thing. Instead, we can do a good thing ourselves like helping a friend in class or on the playground.
- “I am here because injustice is here”: Dr. King found ways to show up and be with others when they were going through difficult times even if he couldn’t fix their problem. Mr. Haffey shared how he has observed students who help their friends by walking them to the office when they have gotten hurt at recess.
- “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal”. We ended by praying together.
Let us pray for peace…
In our world ,In our country, In our city, In our community, In our homes, In our friendships, In our hearts.
Catholic Schools Week & Open House: Next Sunday, January 26, 11am Mass is the start to Catholic Schools Week! Please plan to come and help us celebrate our school. Our Open House will run from 12:00-1:30pm. We have Middle School Ambassadors giving tours, we will have extra donuts at Coffee & Donuts and teachers will be in the classrooms. Students can get a free dress pass from their teacher if they come to Mass in uniform! Show your pride in your school! Catholic Schools Week takes place in Catholic Schools across the country to celebrate the gift of Catholic Education! It is a week of gratitude for all who make this work successful. We will start on Monday with Parent Appreciation Day. Please stop by the lobby of Banchero Hall for a “Thanks a latte!” Baristas will be on hand to customize your order.
