Dear Families,

At our Monday prayer assembly the third grade class led us in the praying of the Apostles’ Creed. They shared with us a little about each of the apostles and how they are remembered. The apostles are St. Peter, St. James the Lesser, St. James the Greater, St. Jude, St. Andrew, St. Phillip, St. Simon, St. Matthew, St. John, St. Thomas, St. Bartholomew and St. Matthias. The Apostles’ Creed is a summary of our core Christian beliefs and is a unifying statement for the church. 

Thank you to the 2nd grade for their faith leadership at our May Crowning Mass on Friday! They served confidently as lectors, readers, singers and gift bearers.  At the end of Mass, we presented the 7th Grade Leadership Awards.  These awards recognize students who exemplify leadership in each of our four Student Learning Expectations (SLE’s). At their SLE retreat last week, seventh grade students reflected on fellow students who served as role models for them in each of the SLE’s.  Congratulations to our award winners and all our 7th graders.  The school is looking forward to their leadership next year.  This year’s award winners are:

  • Active Person of Faith: Quinn Raney-Ernst 
  • Lifelong Learner: Lauren Genna and Harry Roozen
  • Globally Aware: John Holtzclaw
  • Well-Balanced: Conor Hession

Yesterday, Luc and Isabella Connors took over my duties as Principals for the Day courtesy of the winning bid at this year’s auction! They have declared this Thursday, May 22, a FREE DRESS day for the whole school! They started the day with Mrs. Austin’s cinnamon rolls and smoothies and then did a wonderful job visiting classrooms, enjoying a pizza lunch and helping the school run smoothly. Thanks for their steady leadership yesterday!  In addition, they did the final SLE award drawing for the year. Congratulations goes to:

  • An Active Person of Faith: Paul C. (6th)
  • A Life-Long Learner: Reid A. (Kindergarten)
  • A Globally Aware Person: Myles H. (1st)
  • A Well Balanced Person: Chase H. (4th)

Gratitude:

  • Putt-Putt Golf on Friday was a hit! I will humbly say that I got a hole in one and couldn’t be happier with the St. Anne golf ball to remember it by!  Thank you to all who helped with set up and clean up with a particular thanks to Ben Barker, Damon Isham and Erika Love for organizing the event and Parent Association for helping to fund it!
  • Fulcrum Early Childhood Education Grant: I am happy to announce that Ms. McDougall (PreK Lead Teacher), has received a grant on behalf of St. Anne School for $1000 to help cover the cost of purchasing items to enrich play-based STEAM learning within our Pre-K classroom.  Thank you Ms. McDougall and the Fulcrum Foundation. The monies come from the Early Childhood Education Endowment Fund established by Dick Abrams and his late wife, Sharon.
  • Teacher and Staff Appreciation.  We are so grateful for this wonderful community of students and parents! Thank you for all the expressions of gratitude including hand made cards, morning beverages, tasty snacks and a delicious lunch last Thursday with some of the best barbeque in town!

Events this week:

  • Thursday, May 22: Parent Association sponsored Pizza Lunch for the whole school! Please bring an alternative lunch if you do not wish to have pizza.
  • Thursday, May 22: Free Dress declared by Principals for the Day Luc and Isabella
  • Friday, May 23, 1:45pm: School Talent Show! 
    • Gates to the parking lot will open at 1:30pm if you need a place to park.
  • 7th Grade Service this week:  As part of its education-centered service project, Seventh Grade is holding a book and food drive benefiting KidVantage and the Ballard Food Bank, respectively. Boxes have been set outside each classroom where students can donate non-perishable food items and/or any used K-8 books that you have at home and are willing to donate. There will also be a donation opportunity upon entry to the St. Anne Talent Show Friday afternoon. Boxes will be set at the Banchero Hall entryway and after the show there will be a popsicle/snack stand in the Pre-K parking lot where donations will be accepted.   • The Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) has launched!  Our goal this year is $103,380 and we are hoping to match last year’s 38% participation rate. This year’s rebate project is focusing on the parish roof repairs. Here is the link: https://www.stanneseattle.org/give/annual-catholic-appeal-2025/
