Dear Families,
We had a wonderful launch to our school year last week! On Friday, Fr. Dominic led us in celebrating our Back to School Mass inviting all the student scholars to a fresh, new school year. He came over to the school afterwards bringing his positive spirit to building new connections with the school community. We are grateful to have him as our associate pastor and look forward to getting to know him better as the year unfolds. Don’t forget to reach out and introduce yourself when you see him at church or around the campus.
At our prayer assembly yesterday, Mr. Haffey shared with us a little bit about the life of Saint Peter Klaver. He was a Jesuit priest who dedicated his life to helping enslaved people. Mr Haffey invited us to consider one of his important teachings: to preach with our hands before preaching with our lips. We took a minute to think and pray about the good work we could do this week for others.
It was great seeing everyone at the annual Back to School Tailgate gathering last Friday! The playground was filled with students on bikes and scooters or just running around having fun. There was good food and lots of friendly faces old and new. Thank you to the School Commission for hosting the event this year!
Back to School Night!
This Thursday, Sept. 12, is our Back to School Night. Come at 6:15pm to Banchero Hall to find out about volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved. At 6:30pm we start with a prayer and welcome by Fr. Freitag, comments by the principal, introduction of our School Commission Chair, Ashley Rossman and our Parent Association Chairs, Kris Lund and Minou Reisinger. This is followed by two sequential classroom sessions offered by classroom teachers.
Safety Alerts!
- Do not park in No Parking spots around the school–especially at pick-up. This impacts safety and is an inconvenience for our neighbors.
- Thank you to our 6th grade Safety Patrol for keeping us attentive and safe at crosswalks.
Regards,
Heidi
