2024-25 School Theme: “Guide me in your truth and teach me.” –Psalm 25
Dear Families,
To all our new and returning students and families, welcome to the 2024-25 school year! This year’s theme is from Psalm 25, “Guide me in your truth and teach me.” We will use this for reflection throughout the year as we learn and grow together in our faith. It was wonderful welcoming all the students back to the school building today with their positive energy. The day was spent reconnecting and organizing all their learning tools for the year ahead.
Some new programs we are grateful for!
- Full day PreK is now available!
- After School Care Program until 5pm has started!
Bringing forward some work from last year!
Last year we had a year-long focus on Executive Function Skills through monthly learning sessions for students, staff and parents. We will continue that work this year by highlighting one skill per month, sharing resources from last year with families and having teachers intentionally foster and practice that skill with their students. This month the EF skill is Organization! Here is the link to last year’s presentation and resources.
New & important initiative for the year!
Every six years, the school begins anew the school accreditation cycle. This year we will be spending the year in a self-study where we examine how we meet the standards for an effective Catholic school as outlined in the NSBECS (National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools). You can look forward to hearing more about our work and there will be opportunities to give input and perspective on our school programs. Our report writing and goal setting will culminate in a three day site visit by an accreditation team on Nov. 4-6, 2025.
Opportunities for the week!
There are two opportunities for community connection this Friday. We have our start of the school year Mass at 8:45am with Fr. Dominic our new Parochial Vicar. And we have our Tailgate party from 5-7:30pm in the school parking lot. You should have received an invitation from our School Commission who are hosting the event. Tailgate Party Invite!
A Little Gratitude!
- Thank you to Edna Maddalena, Kathleen Gallagher and Shelly Carroll for setting up and hosting the back to school Garden Party for new student parents! It was a warm, welcoming and successful event for all.
- This summer saw the usual cleaning up of the building and grounds. But we also had the installation of AC units in our Server Room, 2nd grade and 3rd grade classroom; some updates to our masonry and attention to drainage issues. There were a lot of subcontractors to manage! Thank you to Heti Lemalu and Cletus Skrabak for going above and beyond to care for our school facility.
- Thank you to our remarkable school staff who are tireless in their work to provide an amazing educational program for our students. We are excited by the work we will be doing this year to promote growth and learning.
Back to School Night!
Next Thursday, Sept. 12, is our Back to School Night. Come at 6:15pm to Banchero Hall to find out about volunteer opportunities and ways to get involved. At 6:30pm we start with a prayer and welcome by Fr. Freitag, comments by the principal, introduction of our School Commission Chair, Ashley Rossman and our Parent Association Chairs, Kris Lund and Minou Reisinger. This is followed by two sequential classroom sessions offered by classroom teachers.
Note from your St. Anne Parish Team!
Dear Students and Families,
As we embark on a new academic year, we warmly welcome you back to our parish St. Anne. May this year be filled with growth, learning, and the blessings of faith. Let’s journey together in the spirit of love, kindness, and excellence!
This year we will seek God’s truth and teaching as we navigate the many opportunities and challenges we might encounter! And we look forward to supporting your student(s) in their learning and growth. Here’s to a great year!
Regards,
Heidi
