Our 8th Grade Class launching their last week as students of St. Anne School!
June 4, 2024
Dear Families,
At the prayer assembly yesterday, the eighth graders were presented with portraits and advice from their first grade buddies! First graders provided sound advice for succeeding in high school including making new friends and always doing their homework. They expressed disappointment that the 8th graders would not have recess but encouraged them to be kind and avoid getting pushed into lockers. The first graders expressed appreciation for all that their 8th grade buddies have done for them this year. They ended with the Irish Blessing.

Thank you to Coach Anna Gillette for the coaching and management of the team. Your work is appreciated by all on the team. As Coach Gillette says, track and field “is great practice for hard work, community, and performance!”
EF Bootcamp!: A final message on “Attention and Motivation” and take away learning about executive function from Kelly Keim and Beth Peterson:
“Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the latest and last EF Bootcamp on May 22nd. This month we focused on Motivation and Attention. Motivation…so fitting for this time of year when we are running out of steam and just trying to stay motivated to check off remaining tasks to make it to summer, right? At Bootcamp, we spent some time talking about Motivational Interviewing and how to use it with your student. OARS is a great acronym to remember to ask Open Ended Questions, use Affirmations, Reflect their feelings and statements back and to Summarize. This method can help the student take the lead in problem solving and cause them to be more self-motivated with their goals and priorities.
Here are a few other key takeaways from that night:
- Help kids track their day and identify interventions.
- Help kids create Tiny Habits to boost their focus.
- Lower the bar for starting. Start small and easy.
- Identify rewards.
- Gamify and use novelty whenever possible.
- Foster a growth mindset.
- Let them be bored and rest their brains from overload.
Our year with you flew by. It was such a blessing to have this time with such a deliberate and thoughtful community of parents. Thank you for having us!”
Thank you for Learning Celebrations! Thank you to the teachers for collecting and managing student work. Thank you to all the students for thoughtfully presenting their growth and learning throughout the year to their families. And thank you to parents for listening and valuing all the hard work your students do day in and day out through the year.
Thank you for Field Day! A huge thank you to Mrs. Scheller for helping all our students have a field day to remember! And thank you to the parents who volunteered to manage all the different games spread around the campus. It was a beautiful day of family skits and cheers, fun games, friendly competition, pizza lunch, chalk art and lots of tired students!
Staffing News: Mrs. Mullin will be stepping away from her middle school math/science teaching this year. We wish her the very best and will miss her. We have begun to look for a middle school math teacher for the 2024-25 school year.
