Dear Families:
Last week we finally got to experience some of our activities in a more “normal” way than we’ve been able to for over two years. It started on Thursday with our Learning Celebration as students shared their year-long work portfolios with their parents. The happy energy in the building was joyful. It has been so long since parents have been able to be inside the building and your presence has truly been missed.
On Friday, we had Field Day. Students were able to participate in activity stations throughout the campus in the morning before the rain arrived to dampen plans for the afternoon. Though the kickball and softball games couldn’t take place at QA playfield, the chalk drawings (held indoors with markers) the dance party, movies, and board games were more than adequate and following the awards ceremony, exhausted (and candy-filled) students headed home for recovery over the weekend.
At our May Crowning Mass we presented the 7th grade Student Learning Expectations (SLEs) Leadership Awards. Given to our incoming 8th grade leaders for the 2022-23 school year, the awards recognize students who exemplify leadership in our four SLEs. The 7th graders nominated fellow students at their retreat held in early May. This year’s award winners are:
Active Person of Faith: Abe Christianson and Ethan Budge
Lifelong Learner: Zach Davis and Laura Pelletier
Globally Aware: Ethan Burkhart
Well Balanced: Macy Fields
Congratulations to our award winners and all our 7th graders. The school is looking forward to their leadership next year.
Finally, this coming Thursday at 5:00pm we celebrate the Class of 2022 at their graduation Mass. These eighth graders are a bright, hardworking and energetic group. They showed tenacity and grit as they negotiated two years where remote learning interrupted their time in the building together, but through it all, they forged deep friendships, and made up for any lost time as they spent this year together in-person. We are proud of them and wish them the best as they enter their high school years. Congratulations!
Have a great week!
Mary
