Dear Families:
I hope all our mothers were sufficiently spoiled on Sunday for Mother’s Day! At least the sunshine finally made an appearance to brighten our day. It sure has been a damp, dark spring.
The uptick we saw in Covid cases last week is starting to ease, but we cannot let our guard down. We really appreciate the families who continue to test before sending a student who has been sick, back to school. In addition to Covid, we are seeing lots of colds, fevers, and stomach bugs. The viruses didn’t have anywhere to go for the past two years, and they seem to be rejoicing at a chance to re-enter our systems.
Many of the cases of Covid we are seeing are from in-family transmissions. It is very difficult to quarantine one member of a family and chances are that another family member has already been exposed once a positive diagnosis of a sibling or parent happens. For this reason, if you have a member of your family test positive, feel free to keep the negative child/sibling at home. If a student is at school with a positive case in the home, we will require the student to mask for ten days following the family member’s diagnosis.
Many of our students will be receiving Sacraments of Initiation this week. On Thursday evening our 7th and 8th graders, along with some high school age St. Anne alums, will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at 7:00pm in the church. Newly ordained Bishop Frank Schuster will be present to celebrate Mass and confirm 48 of our young people. On Sunday, May 15th our second graders will be receiving their First Eucharist. Please join us as we welcome all of these young people into the next stage in their faith life.
After two years, our end-of-the-year Learning Celebration is back! On Thursday, June 2nd, we welcome students and their parents to a student-led conference and portfolio presentation. There are no classes that day and students will come to school with their parents at the assigned time and head to their classroom for a 20-minute session to discuss the student’s successes this year and to make a plan for keeping sharp over the summer. Families will be assigned times, but you need to fill out this form to get your preferred spots. The form needs to be completed by next Monday, May 16th.
Have a great week!
Mary
