Dear Families:
This past week, it has been such a pleasure to welcome parents to the building for the first time since March, 2020! All of us have enjoyed having you present to watch your child’s class perform their Christmas pageant song. This week, the entire program comes together as the 6th graders perform in “A Christmas Carol” with the classes adding their songs. This afternoon, grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade had the opportunity to watch the complete show. Tomorrow the remaining classes will see it and on Thursday, we invite our 6th grade parents to see their child as they star in the play. Certainly, this is not the way we envisioned the presentation of our Christmas Pageant, but it was the safest way to gather people. A link to view the entire pageant will be sent to families from Ms. Vizzare on Thursday.
I truly can’t believe we have arrived at our Christmas break. The year has flown by. I never thought that we would be still dealing with Covid restrictions this far into the school year, but the variants have had other plans for us. Just a reminder that if you plan to travel using public transportation (plane, train etc.) over the holidays, there is no need to have your child quarantine upon return, if they are fully vaccinated. (Two weeks past their second dose.) Those who are not fully vaccinated need to quarantine for 5 days, test with a negative result and return to regular activities on day 7.
We have been pleased to be hearing of so many of our students receiving the Covid vaccines. Many are either finished with their second dose or are scheduled to receive it soon. If you are still looking for a vaccine, there are spots available at Our Lady of Fatima on Magnolia, on December 22nd. Students can receive either a first or second dose. If they get the first dose on the 22nd, they will need to find an alternative site to get their second dose, 3 weeks later. Here are links to sign up: morning session and afternoon session.
Congratulations to our middle school Speech Team. This past weekend they competed in the Bishop Blanchet High School virtual tournament. There were over 300 competitors from 16 different Catholic schools. St Anne entered 50 speeches from 33 different participants. Zoë Onwuneme placed first in Open Impromptu and fourth in Open Ed Com. Also, Ethan Burkhart placed first in Novice Impromptu and first in Novice Ed Com. Thank you to coaches Kevin Burkhart, Amy Cunningham and Daniel Talevich for a job well done!
Finally, on behalf of our entire faculty and staff, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your wonderful children. They brighten each and every one of our days.
Just a reminder that we dismiss at noon on Friday, December 17th and return to school on January 3rd, 2022.
Have a great week!
Mary
