Dear Families:
I cannot believe that we have entered the season of Advent. Yesterday at our Prayer Assembly, our 6th graders led us as we lit the Advent wreath and sang our customary Advent song. Each morning from now until Christmas break, we will gather in Banchero Hall and have our Advent celebration. Traditionally, we have gathered the entire school in the darkened main hallway of the school, but due to distancing requirements, we are spreading out in the gym. Seeing the innocence and reverence in the eyes of our students as they anticipate the coming of Our Lord Jesus, cannot help but put us in the spirit of Christmas.
Our theme for this year is, “Take Courage” and during Advent we will focus on the Virgin Mary and the courage she exhibited as she said, “Yes” to becoming the Mother of Jesus. We will explore the depictions of Mary throughout the world in different countries and cultures.
Beginning next Monday, December 6th, we will be inviting families to join us on a rotating schedule as each class has the opportunity to perform their Christmas pageant song. Since we are not able to have our regular afternoon and evening performances of the Christmas program, we are hoping that getting a chance to see your child/ren sing in-person will provide some level of normalcy as we prepare for Christmas.
Here is the schedule of performances. When it is your child’s class performance, they are asked to arrive in their costumes by 8:20 am. They can go directly to their classroom to put away their things and put on any school provided additions to their costumes (hats, bows, ties, etc.) so that they will be ready to perform immediately following our Advent Candle lighting.
Parents are welcome to attend the short program on the day their child is singing. Very limited parking will be available in the church lot and some spaces will be available on the playground in the small lot on the Northwest corner and along the West fence. If you are able to walk or carpool, it would be very helpful. We ask that you distance and wear a mask throughout the time you are in the building. A link to a video of the entire performance will be available the week of the pageant.
Have a great week!
Mary
