Dear Families:
We welcome our 8th graders back into the building as we mark Catholic Schools Week! Not the way we wanted or expected to celebrate this special week this year, but we are trying to keep a few of our usual activities. Yesterday, we celebrated our parents and hopefully, you received a “Thanks-a Latte” coffee card with notes of appreciation from your child/ren. It went home with the youngest child (Grades PreK-5 & 8th) yesterday. Sixth and Seventh grade families will receive theirs when they return in the coming weeks.
Today, we celebrate our QA business community. Posters are being readied to be mailed to area businesses. It is sad how many have closed over the past year due to COVID!
Tomorrow is Grandparents’/Grandfriends’ Day. We will miss the Mass and lunch we shared with them. We are encouraging our students to call, FaceTime, Zoom or even write a note to their grandparents today. A grandparent–grandchild relationship is special and we look forward to the day we can all be together again.
The remainder of the week focuses on our parish and our students. We will deliver a gift and notes of appreciation to our parish staff on Thursday. Friday, it’s time to celebrate our students. They can come to school in FREE DRESS and we promise to show our appreciation for them during the day. We are not able to have our faculty versus 8th grade volleyball game this week but we plan to delay it for nice spring weather and an outdoor game in the coming months.
Typically, during this week, we open our re-enrollment process for the upcoming school year. This year, we are transitioning to a completely online format using a program called SchoolAdmin. It’s an excellent tool which will streamline the process for all. Most aspects are set to go, but when information for pre-population of student data was ported from PowerSchool to SchoolAdmin, the fields did not match up. It is not something that we can change at our level and the administrators from SchoolAdmin and PowerSchool are working to correct the problem. We hope to hear that we are ready to send out the link to the re-enrollment forms later this week.
Thank you to Margaret Rican, Mark Keilholz, Kara Herche, Cheryl Overbey, Alicia Nakamoto, Eileen Askew, Damian Hession, Joe Vizzare, Megan Teepe, and Brian Reisenauer who helped us move the PreK to their new classroom in the church and set-up the 6th and 8th grade classrooms in the gym. We couldn’t do without the generous assistance of our parents!
Finally, this coming Friday, February 5th there will be no remote online classes for our 7th graders so teachers can prepare for their return next Monday.
Have a great week!
Mary
