Dear Families:
Congratulations to our award- winning Speech Team! This past Saturday they competed in the Seattle Prep Tournament and came away with 3rd Place in the Best Overall Team Performance. Many on the team made the finals and two of our middle schoolers received perfect scores for their speeches. Many thanks to head coaches, Amy Cunningham, Eileen Askew and faculty advisor, Daniel Talevich for a job well done.
Thank you to all those who made our Catholic Schools’ Week Mass and Open House such a success. Much appreciation goes to the students who participated as greeters, readers, singers and band members at our liturgy and to our Student Ambassadors who guided tours during our Open House. Thank you also goes to the wonderful group of parents who helped with the reception in the Library by providing cookies, coffee, balloons and flowers. We are also grateful to the parents who stepped forward to greet prospective families at the front door or to answer questions in the classrooms. I talked to a number of visitors who commented on how welcomed they felt and they mentioned the “family atmosphere” present in the school.
Our re-enrollment cycle for the 2020-21 school year starts on Wednesday, January 29th. Packets will be distributed at our State of the School presentation at 7:00pm in Banchero Hall. A repeat session will be held at 8:30am next Tuesday, Feb. 4th in the church Assembly Room. Please join us and get updates on financials, facilities, tuition increases and progress on our accreditation goals and newest strategic plan.
Just a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29st we celebrate Grandparent/Grandfriends’ Day. The parking lot will open 10:00am for our guests to pick up their grandchild/ren and head over to the church for a 10:30am Mass in their honor. Immediately following, our students will be sharing lunch with their grandparents/grandfriends at the school. Please remember to have your child pack a special lunch for themselves and their guests. Coffee and cookies will be served. No hot lunch will be available tomorrow.
Finally, this coming Friday at 1:00pm is the funeral Mass for long-time parishioner and school parent, Chris Hurley. We are expecting the funeral to be quite large and due to the number of students, families, teachers and staff that would like to attend, we will be DISMISSING SCHOOL AT NOON on FRIDAY, JANUARY 31st. We are rescheduling all the Student Appreciation Day activities to Friday, February 7th. Students can have free dress on Thursday, January 30th. Students are to wear their uniforms on Friday January 31st. Please keep the Hurley family in your prayers. Chris touched many lives through his work coordinating the Chess team and his unending support for our school. His presence will be truly missed.
Have a good week!
