Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We had a wonderful start today. As much time and energy as it takes to get everything in order for the opening of school, when we began our Prayer Assembly this morning and the students were on their feet, singing and laughing, it made it worth every second of work. The students enjoyed each other and seem truly glad to be back.
Activities preparing for the new year began last week with teacher inservices, Middle School Orientation, New Family Garden Party, and PreK and Kindergarten Open Houses. On Wednesday, students from grades 6th – 8th gathered to reconnect and plan for their roles as leaders of the school this coming year. They played games, participated in leadership activities around our school theme, met Fr. Colin (who gave fun-loving nicknames to each class) and shared a pizza lunch. Teachers report that we have strong leadership and good role models in our middle school this year.
Huge thanks go to Kathleen Gallagher, Gina Grothkopp, Edna Maddalena, and Lynsey Seel for preparing a wonderful, welcoming garden party for our new parents. It was a beautiful, sunny and warm evening with delicious appetizers, drinks, and the chance for new parents to get acquainted and be welcomed to the St. Anne School family.
Additional thanks goes to Alitha Regalia, Parent Association chair, who prepared a perfect “welcome back” coffee this morning for our parents. A great way to start the first day of school.
Please join us this coming Friday, September 6th at 8:45am as we ask God’s blessing on our school year with our all-school Mass. This will be the first Mass that we celebrate as a school with Fr. Colin and a blessed way to begin our year.
It’s tailgate time! Please join us this Friday evening at 5:00pm for the best tailgate party kicking off the school year. Alitha Regalia and her crew will be grilling burgers and hot dogs for an evening of food, family, music and fun. It’s a chance to get re-acquainted and celebrate the start of the school year. Check out all of the details and assignments on what to bring to share.
Finally, please join us next Thursday, September 12th at 7:00 pm in Banchero Hall for our all-school (PreK-8) Back-to-School Night. We will start with a general session and then proceed to individual classroom presentations. The evening is a wonderful opportunity to be an active participant in your child’s education. You will have time to meet your child’s teacher, hear about the curriculum and get answers to any questions you might have. There will be two, 25 minute sessions for those of you who have multiple children. We hope to have you on your way home no later than 8:30pm. Doors will open by 6:45pm for you to arrive early and visit our volunteer tables. We have a wealth of opportunities for you to become involved in any number of ways.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Mary Sherman
