Dear Families:
Finally, spring has sprung and all the excitement and activities that come with it are in full swing.
Shrek Jr. is coming! Don’t miss the after-school drama program’s production of this popular tale with everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leading a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Shows are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00pm in Banchero Hall. The cast of 5th -8th graders has been working since early February and if the “teaser” we saw on Monday at the Prayer Assembly is any indication, we are in for quite a treat. Our fabulous SCRIP team is launching a special contest before we break for the summer to get you signed up for monthly orders. It is so easy to register and each month, your selected gift cards are delivered to you through your youngest child. They can be used at a variety of grocery stores, online retailers, gas stations or restaurants. The SCRIP team buys gift cards at a discounted price from participating retailers and the school is the beneficiary of the difference between the face value of the card and the discount. For example, the total value of the gift card is $100; Scrip team buys it at a 5% discount, paying $95. You pay $100, the school gets $5 and you have $100 to spend.
If you sign-up for an ongoing monthly order between May 14th and 18th your child/ren’s classroom gets credit and the class with the largest increase in orders gets a free dress pass and popsicles…and you help make “free money” for the school. Everybody wins!
Special thanks to Jeff and Tiffany Christianson and Susan Leonardson for heading the SCRIP team. The funds they have raised are used for enhancements to our academic program such as the Mathletics program, the Pacific Science Center visit and the 5th Ave. Theatre play, “Rosie the Riveter” that was here last month.
Just a reminder that classes will not be in session next Wednesday as we have our Learning Celebration. Parents will accompany their children to the celebration of their growth and learning this year through a student led conference showing their year-long portfolio. Teachers will be on hand for check-in and to answer questions. If you did not receive your appointment time in the mail, please contact the school office.
Also, Senora McNamara and her middle school students will be creating a Mexican Restaurant in Banchero Hall during the day to celebrate Spanish language and culture while showing off their Spanish skills. The fiesta will also feature artwork, karaoke and games. It will take place from 11am- 2pm. Proceeds will benefit a school in Guadalajara, Mexico. Click here for more information and an unofficial form for ordering food. They just need numbers to estimate quantities to purchase.
Have a great week!
