Six of our middle schoolers represented St. Anne School at the MathCounts contest on Saturday morning. MathCounts is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun, engaging and challenging “bee” style problem solving activities. The students have been preparing for the contest since last fall and spent three hours on Saturday competing. Great job, Tyler Graff, Apollo Jones, Natalia Peng, Amanda Graff, Rhys Harnett, and Luke Whalon!
Congratulations to 7th grader, Jane Hurley who has qualified to compete at the state level of the National Geographic Bee. The Washington state competition will take place on Friday, April 6th in Tacoma. Jane won our school contest in January and took a written test to qualify for the state bee. One champion from each state will advance to the National Geographic Bee Championship, which will be held May 20-23 at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. Good luck Jane!
We had a beautiful rosary for Ron Ryan last Wednesday in the church. Students in grades 2nd-8th joined with parishioners, parents and parish staff to pray for Ron. From his home, Ron prayed the rosary at the same time. He is very thankful for the prayers, encouragement and support he has received since his diagnosis. He sent the following message to me that he asked me to pass on to all of you:
Dear St. Anne Students, Parents and Staff,
I was deeply moved to hear that the school went to the church this morning to pray the rosary for me. That’s a BIG sacrifice! But it means a great deal to me and gives me a lot of peace. I know that God is with me, and your love and prayers are a sign of that love. Thank you.
I miss being with you, and hope that I will be able to be back at St. Anne soon. Please know that I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Ron Ryan
We will continue praying the rosary each Wednesday morning following the parish morning Mass for the next 8 weeks. Classes will take turns joining parishioners in the day chapel to pray for Ron. You are welcome to join us!
A Caring Bridge site has been created by Ron’s daughters to keep people updated on his progress. Feel free to visit it for updates.
Please join us tomorrow night, (Wednesday) between 7:00pm and 8:00pm for our annual Science Fair in Banchero Hall. It is always a fun-filled and educational evening as students display and explain their projects culminating weeks of research and data collection on their hypothesis. It is amazing to see the high-quality work done by our students.
Have a great week!
