Yesterday, 6th grader Natalia Peng took over the duties as Principal for the Day courtesy of the winning bid from last year’s auction. Her first order of business at Prayer Assembly was to declare this Friday, February 16th as a FREE DRESS day for all! She did a wonderful job observing in classrooms, doing recess duty and hosting some friends for a pizza lunch. Maybe I should fear for my job???
Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It is a time in our liturgical year when we pause to reflect on the life of Jesus leading to his Passion and Resurrection. It can be a dreary season if we see it as a time of adding burdens and then carrying them day after day for 46 days. But prayer, fasting and almsgiving are meant to clear our inner spirit to open up limited views and get in touch with the great mystery who is God. Our parish has some excellent resources and activities for you and your family to make the season more deeply meaningful. Begin by joining us and the Parish community tomorrow morning and celebrate the start of our Lenten journey at Ash Wednesday Mass at 8:45am in the church.
Don’t miss the St. Anne Winter Games this Friday from 1pm-3pm! It should be a fun-filled, and “balmy” afternoon.
Finally, first through fourth grades’ after-school drama program’s production of “Friendship”. Two performances will be held this Thursday, February 15th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. The actors and actresses have been working since early January on the production. I think we are all in for a treat.
Just a reminder (as if any student needed one!) that next week is Presidents’ Day and Winter Break. School will not be in session from February 19th through February 23rd.
Have a great week!
