I can’t believe that we are halfway through this school year. Where has the time gone? Today second trimester midterm reports are coming home for our 4th – 8th graders. This marks the midpoint in the trimester and halfway to the endpoint. Please ask your student for their reports if you have not seen them already.
Please join us this coming Friday at 2:15pm in Banchero Hall when we will have the finals of our annual National Geographic Geography Bee. Classroom rounds are complete and two finalists from each grade, 4th – 8th will compete in the finals. The all-school winner will have a chance to take a regional test to qualify for the state tournament, held in April in Tacoma. We will keep you posted on the results.
I hope to see you at one (or both) of the Hanna Bogen Novak parent workshops this week. Both are from 8:30am-9:30am in the Assembly Room. Wednesday morning, January 24th is for parents of 5th-8th graders on Supporting Regulation: Spotlight on Strategic Thinking Skills and Thursday, January 25th is for parents of PreK-4th grade students on Supporting Emotional Growth in the Early Years.
Congratulations to our middle school Speech Team for their showing at the Seattle Prep Speech Tournament. Twenty-five students competed in Oratory, Editorial, Expository and Duo rounds, with eight of our students reaching the finals and four of them placing in the top three. Jacob Youngblood and Sophie Walters were each awarded a $1000 scholarship to Seattle Prep and Jane Hurley and Annelise Northcott–Johnson placed third in Junior Duo. Special thanks to coaches, Charley Shoemaker, Laura Zielinski, Mark Walters and faculty advisor, Kristin Earnst for their work with our students!
Just a reminder that we have PreK and Kindergarten Information Night this coming Thursday at 7:00pm in Banchero Hall. Teachers and Instructional Assistants will be on hand to explain highlights of their programs. If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling a child in our program, please make plans to attend. Application packets will be available that night.
Finally, next week is Catholic Schools Week. We begin our celebration at the 10:00am Mass on Sunday, January 28th. Immediately following, join us for coffee and donuts, a chance to meet our 2018 Distinguished Graduate and take a student-led tour of the school during our Open House.
And don’t forget: Auction procurement forms are due this Friday January 26th!
Have a great week!
