Dear Families:
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope your holidays were filled with peace, joy and relaxation. Though the chance to spend time with family and friends is worth the hustle and bustle, it is nice to be back in a routine again. And the days are starting to get longer…bring on the sunshine and the warmth.
January is a very busy time at school. We are just completing the final recommendations for the 8th graders’ applications to high school as we prepare for PreK and Kindergarten Information Night for our incoming students. The end of the month marks the beginning of our celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week and our Open House followed by re-enrollment for the 2018-19 school year. Oh, how the time flies.
Some important dates to get on your calendar for this month:
January 25th at 7:00pm we will be having our PreK and Kindergarten Information Night. If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling a child in our program, please make plans to attend. Application packets will be available that night.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Beginning Sunday, January 28, we join the nation’s 8000 Catholic schools in celebrating Catholic Schools Week. During our own observance, each day will have a special theme and activity. More information will be coming home as the week draws near, but I want to draw your attention to three specific events:
Open House – Please join us on Sunday January 28th for the 10:00am Mass with Youth-led Ministries followed by our Open House from 11:30am until 1:00pm. Student led tours will be available for prospective families and teachers will be present in all classrooms to answer any questions. Registration packets will be available for interested new families.
Grandparent/Grandfriends’ Day – This event, scheduled for Wednesday, January 31st, begins at 10:30am with a special Mass where children sit with their guest(s) and immediately following, treat them to a shared lunch. Students are asked to bring their Grandparents/grandfriends sack lunches to share in Banchero Hall or the middle school classrooms. Coffee and cookies will be provided. Following lunch (approximately 12:00pm) the “grand-guests” will be able to move on with their day and the students will head out to recess. NO HOT LUNCH will be served that day. The playground will open at 10:15am for parking. We are looking forward to celebrating with you!
State of the School – Our second annual State of the School presentation will take place on Wednesday evening, Jan. 31st from 7:00-8:00pm. Please join us for updates on our programs, financial status, and progress on action steps in our Five-Year Strategic Plan. Information will also be shared on data from our self-study document in preparation for our Accreditation renewal and site-visit scheduled for next fall. Re-enrollment packets will be distributed that evening and at a second session to take place the morning of February 6th from 8:30–9:30am.
Again, welcome to 2018 and have a great week!
