Move-A-Thon
What a perfect day we had for the Move-A-Thon last week. The sun was shining, the water and oranges were plentiful, and the smiles and laughter from the students was contagious. I think my favorite moment was when I was running alongside a tired little first grade boy. As Mr. Sauvage came sprinting by, I said to the first grader, “You’re not going to let Mr. Sauvage beat you, are you?” He replied, “Mr. Sauvage can beat me, but I’m not going to let my principal beat me!” And off he sprinted!
Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors who helped assure the safety and success of the day! Now is the time for students to collect their pledges. Move-A-Thon donations are due by Friday, October 20th.
Educational Specialist – Hanna Bogen
This Thursday and Friday, our educational specialist, Hanna Bogen will be here to observe in classrooms and meet with teachers on strategies to help students be the most successful. On Thursday evening, from 7-8pm, Hanna will be doing a parent presentation in Banchero Hall on “Helping Students to Reach Their Full Potential”. She will share vocabulary that we will be using at school so that you can echo it at home. Please don’t miss this great learning opportunity.
Christ in the Classroom Inservice
Last Friday, our teachers and staff spent the inservice day focusing on the great mysteries of our Catholic faith: Incarnation, Trinity, the Paschal Mystery and the Eucharist. We examined each and discussed how they play out in the life of our school. How do we build relationships and community while challenging our students to see that they are truly a gift of God? How do we animate that we believe in them and together we can accomplish anything? There was plenty of quality reflections and discussions. It was a spiritually energizing day.
Harvest Fest
Don’t miss the parish Harvest Fest this coming Saturday, October 14th. There will be pony rides, games, face-painting, a cake walk, vendors, arts and crafts, a beer tent and a chili cook-off. Following the 5:00pm Mass on Saturday, there is a potluck dinner with chili and food items to share. The fun starts at 2:00pm on the playground and in Banchero Hall.
Have a great week!
