St. Anne Chess Club Survey-Respond by 10/26
Our St. Anne chess club has taught beginning thru advanced chess to our K-8 St. Anne students for 8+ years. Though we lost our founder, Mr. Chris Hurley, we are blessed to have the best chess coach in the state of Washington, Josh Sinanan, President of the Washington Chess Federation and National Master. Josh will teach all chess levels at St. Anne this year.
We are targeting a mid-November start and will meet through March 2021. Classes will run 45 mins (one for each: beginners and intermediates+) per week and likely meet on Mondays at 5:30 for beginners and 6:15 for intermediates+. Classes include a chess lesson plus chess games played with peers.
We plan to host two tournaments to help pay for our club program – likely in December and March/April. For the time being, all club sessions will be held online (Zoom). Chess tournaments may also be online.
Club registration fees are $100/child. This is an increase over previous years. Mr. Hurley coached without compensation and subsidized the club himself. Club registration fees will go toward paying Coach Josh.
Please note, due to the challenges of the online format, and to ensure kids can most easily progress in the chess knowledge, your child should at minimum know how chess pieces move.
We’d like to assess your family’s interest in the 2020-2021 St. Anne Chess Club. Please respond to this short survey by Monday, October 26th. Questions? Contact Kelly Jaeger at jaeger.guardian@stannesea.org.
