What a wonderful afternoon we had last Thursday as our students descended on the surrounding neighborhood and ran, jogged, walked, skipped and danced for one hour for our Move-a-thon. The weather was perfect with sunshine and mild temperatures and the orange slices and water were delicious rewards for a job well-done. A huge thank-you to Chairs, Scott and Amy Graff (who even ran with the students) and their team of volunteers. All details were attended to, and at every driveway, crosswalk and points in-between, parents watched out for our safety and cheered as students and teachers made their way around the course. Thank you for your support of this event! We will keep you posted of financial results when all pledges/donations have been tabulated. Any sore, tired legs were worth the fun we had!
Cross Country Champs!
Thankfully, those tired legs recovered and our CYO Cross Country Team was awarded the first-place trophy as city champions. St. Anne’s team out-scored all other 2A and 3A schools with the highest number of points. A number of class and individual trophies were also awarded to our students for finishing tops in their divisions. Congratulations and special thanks to coaches Coreen Kiefer and Maggie Fields on a job well done!
Great ShakeOut
This Thursday, we will be participating in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake drill, along with over 1 million other Washingtonians and over 55.9 million people world-wide. Classes will spend 60 seconds practicing, “Drop, Cover and Hold On” procedures to be used during an earthquake. Each month we practice for earthquakes after our fire drills, but this worldwide event will help reinforce these skills for our students and staff.
Middle School Dance
This coming Friday night in Banchero Hall, St. Anne Middle School will be hosting a dance for 7th and 8th graders from Catholic schools in the North Seattle deanery. Thank you to Catherine Porciuncula and middle school teacher, Sean Haffey for chairing this event and to all our parents who volunteered to set-up, clean-up and serve as chaperones. Our students really look forward to this big event each year.
110th Anniversary of St. Anne Parish
Please join us this coming Sunday as the parish celebrates 110 years. Since 1908 the parish has been a light on the hill providing a cornerstone for our community and support for thousands of parishioners. The celebration will begin at the 10:00am Sunday liturgy with a reception following in Banchero Hall.
